August 30, 2005

Today was my first day off. Despite being in this fabulous city, I didn't do any sightseeing. I was here for a week back in April and have barely even started editing photos from that trip. A few are here WashingtonDC

I slept in a bit.

I had a massage today. The masseuse is a former member of the Georgian Water Polo team. He told me he used to do long distance swims in the Baltic Sea, up to 25 miles, for practice. He worked on my legs mostly. Cycling is primarily a quadricepts exercise but the entire body gets a good workout.

I got a haircut.

I washed my clothes. The Wyndham does not have a guest laundry. They sent us over to the Embassy Suites instead. When I asked where the guest laundry was, they looked at me suspiciously and asked if I was a guest. When I told them that the Wyndham concierge sent me over, they indicated that that was not an approved recommendation... but they didn't throw me out either. I ran into 2 other cyclists doing the same thing.

I cleaned my bike.

I finally installed my new bike computer - I had purchased it the day before I left for this trip.

I even had time to start a book I brought with me The Masked Rider - Cycling in West Africa by Neil Peart. Fascinating stories about cycling in Camaroon.
