I rode a 30 mile bike loop. I found the route on the web site of the Spring City Cycling Club http://www.springcity.org/index.stm  I did the "White Chevron" ride leaving from Sparkman Middle School. The ride had about 1000 feet of climbing in 29 miles, with altitude ranging from 750 to 900 feet.   http://www.springcity.org/maps/database/WhiteChevronInfoPacket.pdf  I didn't stop for any pictures.  The area was farm land, well maintained roads and the few cars I encountered were bicycle friendly.

The next morning I left for Augusta Georgia. On my way out of town, I discovered this Ghost Bike.  Ghost Bikes are erected in many cities at the site where cyclists have been killed by motorists. http://www.ghostbikes.org/  In this situation, it appears that a motorist was distracted by a cell phone and killed a 20 year old cyclist.  http://www.waymarking.com/waymarks/WM66E8_Sarah_Chapman_Huntsville_AL
